What is GHK-Cu

GHK-Cu (Glycyl-L-Histidyl-L-Lysine Copper) is a naturally occurring copper peptide found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Levels decline significantly with age — dropping nearly 60% between ages 20 and 60. GHK-Cu is one of the most powerful regenerative peptides studied for skin rejuvenation, wound healing, hair growth, and anti-inflammatory effects. It works by stimulating collagen and elastin production, activating the body's antioxidant systems, modulating inflammatory genes, and promoting stem cell activity. It is used both topically and via injection for aesthetic and systemic regenerative benefits.

How It Works

Stimulates Collagen & Elastin

GHK-Cu directly activates fibroblasts to produce collagen types I, II, and III — the structural proteins that give skin its firmness, elasticity, and youthful appearance.

🔧

Activates Antioxidant Systems

Upregulates superoxide dismutase and other antioxidant enzymes, reducing oxidative damage to skin cells and tissues.

🌱

Promotes Stem Cell Activity

Stimulates stem cells in hair follicles and skin — supporting hair regrowth and accelerated tissue regeneration.

🔥

Modulates Inflammation

Regulates over 4,000 genes involved in the inflammatory response — reducing chronic inflammation that accelerates skin aging.

What to Expect — Your Treatment Timeline
🏥
Section Photo
Skin treatment / aesthetic / clinical
200px wide, full height
Weeks 1–2
Anti-inflammatory effects. Skin may appear calmer, less red, and more hydrated. Hair shedding may temporarily increase (normal — part of the follicle reset process).
Weeks 3–6
Visible improvement in skin texture and hydration. Early collagen stimulation effects beginning. Hair follicle activation ongoing.
Months 2–3
Measurable improvement in skin firmness, elasticity, and fine lines. Hair regrowth visible in those using for alopecia.
Months 4–6
Peak aesthetic results. Continued improvement in collagen density, scar appearance, and overall skin quality.
Ongoing
Maintenance dosing recommended. Results are sustained with continued use — collagen levels can continue improving for up to 12 months.
Who Benefits Most
Adults seeking skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatment
Patients with thinning hair or early androgenic alopecia
Individuals with scarring, wound healing concerns, or post-procedure recovery
Patients combining with microneedling, RF, or laser treatments for enhanced results
Anyone with chronic skin inflammation, rosacea, or barrier dysfunction
Patients interested in systemic anti-aging and regenerative therapy

What You Need to Know

Important before your treatment:

GHK-Cu can be administered topically, via subcutaneous injection, or through microneedling channels for direct skin delivery.
When used with microneedling or RF microneedling, GHK-Cu is applied immediately post-treatment to enhance healing and collagen stimulation.
Temporary hair shedding in the first 2–4 weeks of use is normal and indicates follicle activation — not increased hair loss.
GHK-Cu is generally very well tolerated. Topical use may cause mild redness initially. Injection site reactions are rare.
Disclose any copper allergy or Wilson's disease to your provider before starting GHK-Cu therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can GHK-Cu be used with microneedling?
Yes — GHK-Cu is one of the most effective serums to apply post-microneedling. The micro-channels created by needling allow significantly deeper penetration and enhanced collagen stimulation.
How is GHK-Cu different from topical copper peptide serums?
Injectable or microneedled GHK-Cu delivers the peptide at therapeutic concentrations to the deeper dermis. Most OTC topical serums contain concentrations too low to achieve significant collagen stimulation.
How long do results last?
With continued use, results are sustained. Collagen improvements continue for up to 12 months. Stopping treatment will result in gradual return to baseline over time.
Can GHK-Cu help with hair loss?
Yes — GHK-Cu stimulates hair follicles, extends the anagen (growth) phase, and has been studied for androgenic alopecia. It is often combined with other hair loss treatments for enhanced effect.
Is there anything GHK-Cu shouldn't be combined with?
GHK-Cu is generally compatible with most treatments and peptides. Avoid direct combination with strong acids (AHAs/BHAs) topically as these may destabilize the peptide.
Can men use GHK-Cu?
Absolutely — GHK-Cu is equally effective for men and women. It is particularly popular for men seeking skin quality improvement and hair regrowth.
